World’s Largest Handstitched Bag | Guinness World Records

Sewing World proudly achieved the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Handstitched Bag, bringing together 1,492 participants in a remarkable sustainability movement that transformed discarded textiles into a global symbol of creativity and environmental awareness.

The Achievement

As a leader in high-impact sustainability events, Sewing World mobilized 1,492 participants in Puchong, Selangor, to set a Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Handstitched Bag. This project serves as a global benchmark for how community-driven events can address the textile waste crisis.

Sustainability Impact

This record-breaking holdall—measuring 25' L x 17'10" H x 9'11" W—diverted 2,984 old T-shirts from landfills. By transforming nearly 3,000 pieces of post-consumer waste into a singular work of art, we demonstrated the massive potential of upcycling on a monumental scale.

Community Empowerment

Beyond the record, this event was designed to spark a national conversation on the circular economy. We empowered the B40 community with the skills to turn discarded textiles into high-value products, proving that sustainability events can drive both environmental preservation and social-economic growth.
